If you are looking for high quality dry erase board, make sure you look into getting one made of porcelain.  A porcelain dry erase board is the longest lasting and best quality variety available.  While melamine may be a lot cheaper, porcelain carries advantages that melamine just cannot match.

Porcelain Dry Erase Board Vs. Melamine

Porcelain carries a few advantages over melamine.  A porcelain board consists of a steel backing covered by the porcelain top.  This makes it magnetic, which allows you to use it as a bulletin board as well.  It also creates a surface which looks nice and is easy to write on.

A melamine board is composed of cardboard.  This greatly decreases the price.  However, this also decreases how long the board lasts.  You see, if the board is not cleaned immediately after use, the marker starts to soak into the board.  This means that it never comes clean.  You only get the “ghosts’ of past marks on the board, and none of the expensive formulas will get them out.  This does not happen with a porcelain board.

The main disadvantage of a porcelain dry erase board is the price.  These do cost more than melamine.  However, you will find that will last a lot longer and be easier to use.
